I was driving down my street about 20mph, when my grand cherokee 1993 (automatic) just stopped moving forward, it was just rolling like it had kicked itself into neutral, even though my gear shifter was on Drive. I tried to slow down and pull over to the side of the road, but i had lost all power to my steering and brakes, so i cranked my jeep over, and jammed down on the brake until the car stopped, and then when I shifted into Park it made a really big grinding noise. I tried to shift into drive, but when I did my car still wouldn’t drive. I Parked again, turned my car off, and it would not start back up. It won’t shift out of park either, when I press my brake (which is totally locked stiff). Can anyone help in anyway? I’m going to go see if we can somehow get it back to the house with my dad tomorrow morning (maybe by shifting the 4wheel- drive gear stick into neutral?), but I was wondering if anybody maybe had an idea what happened? Losing power steering/brakes seems completely unrelated to my car losing momentem (maybe transmission is bad, or computer is telling the car to do something?). Any help would be of beneift, thanks!

brakes are vacuum/hydraulic operated. transmission is mechanical gear select and hydraulic shifted. No vacuum though i think.
If there is supposed to be vacuum in the transmission, then both brakes and transmission have something in common, and perhaps you should start looking for a vacuum leak. Maybe a vacuum hose came off, or your master cylinder has a leak. Only thing I can think of, sorry. edit post as you find things out!
The fact that it is a Jeep is your number one problem. Sell it as soon as possible and get yourself a good Japanese car, say a Toyota and don’t look back.
It sounds like you lost vacuum pressure. Check for any disconnected hoses or leaks.
the engine dying would explain the lost of power steering and brakes.
your transmission is bad replace it
Check your ignition coil or ignition module.Pull a plug and do a spark test.Put the spark plug into the plug wire and ground it to something without touching it but have someone turn the engine over while watching for spark at the plug.If there is not spark it is in your coil or distributor or ignition module.
Timing belt/chain. Good luck.
