should plan to drive at a slower pace than normal when the roads are wet.
Brake earlier and with less force than you would normally. Not only does this increase the stopping distance between you and the car in front of you, it also lets the driver behind you know that you’re slowing down.
Don’t use cruise control.
If you see a large puddle up ahead, drive around it or choose a different route.
Don’t attempt to cross running water.
After you cross a puddle, tap on your brake pedal lightly to dry off some of the water on your rotors.
Turn on your headlights.
Watch out for pedestrians.
Track the car ahead of you. Let the car ahead pave a clear path..
Make sure you don’t run into large puddles or any puddles at all. Your car will swerve and it is extremely dangerous. If there are 3 lanes on the road, you should try to stay in the middle and away from the sides where the water gathers. Drive slowly and under speed limit especially on a high way. If you have a rear wheel drive, you should take extra precaution, front wheel drive is better but you will still swerve in puddles, all wheel drive is safer but nothing is every 100% guaranteed.
Look into purchasing all-season tires, they are helpful.
Make sure your windows are defogged by using the air conditioner (if you do not have air conditioning then use your heater with the windows rolled up). Do not attempt to rush anything such as traffic lights or stop signs. Do not tail gate, stay away from cars ahead of you. It is harder to brake in the rain.
Don’t use cruise control, you can easily hydroplane.
Drive as fast as you possibly can, even around corners. The faster you drive, the quicker you will get where you’re going, and you will be on the road for a shorter time, reducing the odds of an accident.
XD
Just kidding.. always drive with lights on in the rain so people can see you better. Make sure your wiper blades are in good shape. Don’t tailgate, leave plenty of room. Don’t speed.
If you are driving in heavy rain, based on ur vision you can check on ur speed. Usually lesser than anticipated speed. Turn on your head lights. Hit slight brake once ..even though not necessary, this helps in ur brake rotor and pad to get wet and adjusted rather screetching all of a sudden when u need. Also imp. thing is to see the humid fog and moisture in ur cabin. This gets accumulated on the windshields and impairs ur vision. u can use the defrost which automatically turns on the AC and increase the fan speed. This condenses the vapor accumulated on the windshield. If u feel cold due to AC, same time u can increase the temp. At this point both the AC and temp. work. giving hot air for you…and the finer wents on the dashboard relase coldair for the windows.
Caution during the slight rainfalls: Small rains causes a fewlayers of water on the road. In case of free ways on a smoother road , curvy places..if any light oil spills are there this might cause ur car to glide …so make sure you have enough traction on acceleration and the tires.
Great precaution neeeded if it rained in winter and weather getting too cold. The fine layers get solidified and u get dragged and glided even on small speeds. This happens in winter. With enough driving exp. u involuntarily handle every case. Gud luck .
When it first starts raining, the roads are most slippery
drive slower than usual- don’t speed
turn on you lights
